David Haslam: last year 2007

Born at the centre of the Universe, Northampton UK on July 20th 1957

(Yes, I am than old.)

I was living in an artists studio overlooking a beautiful fishing village at the far bottom of Cornwall. Now I have chosen to sell up and go back to Drawing

The Studio

Now I live in South Bohemia, Czech Republic because I miss trees and the wet stuff outside my old window had turned to nothing more than moving grey Artex. Really, Czech is just like Northampton but no one understands a word I say, nothing changed there.

Rojsin

Avoided marriage successfully.

Was nearly sued by Noddy because he did not like a drawing that I did of him and could of ended up in jail.

I did spend six months of the year working as a Design Consultant for Computer Based Training/Multimedia programmes. The rest of the time rusting in the Cornish sun and farting about with visual art and sound art.

Lead noise maker in thee "Knobbing Thistle", a band totally dedicated to a lack of musical talent. The band has now split due to a difference in non-musical direction.

Knobbing Thistle

To the shock of most of you I became an elected Lib Dem Town Councillor for Penzance so do not let anyone tell you that the Cornish do not accept you :-)

Still follow the Cobblers (Northampton Town FC) so have kept my sense of humour. Yes! only 3-0 against Manchester United reserves (better than the 8-2 I witnessed last time)

Basically I have no intentions of growing old and apart from a few very long grey hairs but look much the same as I did yesterday.

Still do not believe in Gods, fairies nor Santa Claus (aka Satan Cals U).

Lots of heartbreaks and had a really bad time during The Thatcher Dictatorship, when I nearly ended up on the street (Thanks Mum!). Hard to be a moral and honest person during those years but proud to say I came through it by the skin of my teeth. My thoughts go out to all who also had a hard time.

I would say that the saddest moment in my life was cradling my beloved black tom cat, Beesum as he died in my arms. I still miss him.

Interests:

Experimental Music, Politics (Liberal/Anarchist), Theology (Atheist), Phylosophy (Existentialism), Dark Ages History, Alderney Postal Carriage Labels, Wargaming with 'toy' soldiers, Art, Humour basically the same things I was interested in as a 16 year old plus new stuff gathered along the way. Football (if Northampton Town counts) and I still play when I get the chance. Rugby, nearly ended my career as an Estonian International player. Anything to do with getting muddy.

Music:

Pink Fairies, Soft Machine, Robert Wyatt, Faust (most Krautrock), Cabaret Voltaire, Birthday Party, The Pop Group, Meat Beat Manifesto, R & S Dance, Future Sound of London, Ryoji Ikeda

and

'Life's a long song' - Jethro Tull

  Life Long Experiances:

Gliding - I am no good but a British Aerobatic Champion took me up to 4000ft and then . . . It was like 20 years of funfair rides stuffed into 20 minutes.

Spent a week on a trawler, 20 miles off the Isles of Scilly with no sight of land for days, just that grey Artex.

While walking through a forest on the island of Saaremaa, Estonia, came into eye ball contact with a Lynx.

. . . and a few of my past girlfriends ;-)

.... and Teele!

Well, that is a rough description of myself
